Day 33 Thu 02/27/2020

Day 33 Thu 02/27/2020

At home day. I completed all my goals for the day, except for two.

I called Aetna today to try and straighten out several issues. The first being reimbursement for dental procedures. These notes are captured in my OneNote notebook, Daily Journal, 2020 Correspondence, Aetna Medicare Advantage HMO. I came away with a couple of action items. I’ll need to contact Net Services if I’m having problems with the website, and I’ll need to call Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO to inquire about reimbursement for the $142 (Jan+Feb) overpayments.

The second issue is to initiate withholding of federal taxes from my social security benefit. Our accountant, Laura Otto, recommended I have taxes withheld from social security. I had opted out of federal tax withholding to have more control over the money. Laura said that’s a good idea, but can be painful come tax season. I found the form, W-4V, on their website, ssa.org. After the form is completed, it’s either returned via mail or dropped off at the Bellevue office. I asked Laura for advice on the amount of withholding. She recommended 12%. I’ll mail it in the morning.

The last item I completed was a review of the bills. The summary can be found in Daily Journal, 2020 Topics, 2020 Bill Review.

Two items were tabled, a review of finances, brokerages, assets, personal balance sheet, and net worth, and a start at collecting all of the loose paper downstairs.

Today I tried to micro-manage my day, with an ultra-schedule. I’ve laid out morning & evening routines, the objective is to have a structured transition in and out of sleep. These routines are based on what I’d like to ideas I’ve gathered from the internet, combined with what I’d like to accomplish. For the rest of the day, I worked out what to do based on immediate needs, anticipated events, and long term items.
