Day 11 Wed 02/05/2020
This morning I weighed in at 253 lbs. The coffee was not so good, but the protein drink was. I skipped over breakfast, hoping to help with weight loss.
I continued to work on my research on metabolic syndrome. There’s more interesting data on adipose tissue (fat). Summarizing. There are two mechanisms of weight gain, concerning adipose tissue, enlarging cells and multiplying cells. We gain fat cells as we age. After puberty, it stabilizes, unless we gain weight, 15% or more, for a sustained period. If so, we continue to increase the number of fat cells. Except for surgery, there’s no way to decrease their numbers. That leaves controlling the size of the cells as the only way to manage weight. That’s enough for today.
My workout at the gym did not go as smoothly as I had planned. I spent an inordinate amount of time talking with Steve. We hadn’t seen each other for a while and were playing catchup. Plus, he’s quite the talker, anyway. I got through most of my workout, choosing to leave on time instead of keeping Jimmy over.
I cooked up another batch of Paleo chicken sausages. For lunch, I ate a few of these with a scramble of one egg and three tablespoons of Kirkland egg whites (3 tbsp are the equivalent of one egg). I chased this down with another protein drink, actually finishing the big plastic jar of Whey Isolate I bought two years ago.
May warmed up the Kale Soup for dinner and added some Costco Rotisserie chicken, a wing and a drumstick. The soup was good. I couldn’t finish the drumstick.
Yet again, I fell asleep after dinner for about 40 minutes. Bad, bad, bad.
I updated MFP today to get a feel for my macros. It was an almost perfect day, 160 grams of protein, 40 grams of carbs, 1500 calories. I did an hour-long workout but did not jump rope today.
